Welcome to our 2019/20 season!
Music and architecture melt together into a Gesamtkunstwerk when the Augustusburg Palace in Brühl becomes a concert venue. For over six decades, this UNESCO heritage site’s magnificent Baroque staircase, designed by Balthasar Neumann, has provided a backdrop for concerts as unusual as it is atmospheric. Music from the palace’s own period in particular is performed here. From May 11th 2019 through February 16th 2020, the palace, surrounding park and nearby churches will become venues for a total of 33 concerts plus two fireworks displayed synchronized to music. Following five concert weekends in May and June, with music ranging from Baroque to the Romantic, comes the annual Haydn Festival from August 16th to the 25th, the only one of its kind worldwide. In the winter months, the four-part series >Bach at four< invites you to discover the musical universe of Johann Sebastian Bach through moderated afternoon concerts.
